About Ecovadis
EcoVadis is a global provider of business sustainability ratings that evaluates companies based on their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance across four key pillars: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.
As part of its methodology, EcoVadis also sorts country headquarters locations into three risk categories—low, medium and high. Companies headquartered in high-risk countries are expected to adopt more rigorous management practices and typically receive lower initial scores.
Within the Environment pillar, Orbia continues to perform as "Outstanding" or "Advanced", significantly exceeding the industry average rating (Table 2). However, due to 2024 updates in EcoVadis’ methodology specifically around the reclassification of Mexico as a high-risk country, Orbia’s Environment category rating dropped 6 points from its 2023 category score. Although Orbia operates globally and has headquarters in multiple locations, EcoVadis designates Mexico as its primary base of operations and correspondingly rates Orbia on a weighted basis with Mexico’s risk profile taking precedence. Overall, Orbia achieved an EcoVadis score of 67/100 points, reflecting a 3-point decrease from 2023 and a transition from Gold to Silver medal status. Orbia earned its first EcoVadis Silver medal in 2018 and proudly maintained this distinction until 2023 when it achieved a Gold medal. In 2024, Orbia was awarded a Silver medal once again. Orbia’s ongoing commitment to sustainability is reflected in consistent improvements across multiple ESG ratings and frameworks over the years. The company has achieved higher scores and stronger performance in assessments by CDP, S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment and Sustainalytics. These accomplishments underscore Orbia’s dedication to embedding sustainability into its core business strategy, advancing transparency and addressing global challenges. Third-party assessments by sustainability rating agencies like EcoVadis provide valuable opportunities for Orbia to identify areas for improvement and further refine its ESG performance. The company remains focused on driving impactful sustainability initiatives and maintaining excellence across all sustainability metrics and evaluations. *Due to EcoVadis' rounding methodology, the 6-point reduction in the Environment pillar caused by Mexico's risk-level reclassification results in a 10-point drop in the rounded pillar score.
